Barnstaple in North Devon is our base for this wonderful, summer bridge holiday. Staying at the Royal & Fortescue Hotel, a contemporary boutique hotel nestled in the centre of the town, you can enjoy a unique blend of elegance and comfort, and a warm and friendly ambience. The historic market town of Barnstaple is situated on the banks of the River Taw, and home to the Pannier Market which has been operating for over 150 years. Alongside your bridge programme, there will be time to explore the town at leisure and venture further afield to the North Devon coast or Exmoor National Park.

Your Bridge Programme
Your duplicate bridge will be available every evening between 7:45pm and 11:15pm. We endeavour to vary these evening sessions, balancing between teams and pairs and featuring at least one Swiss event during a two-week break.
Bridge will also be offered some mornings or afternoons. These sessions are normally given over to open pairs/teams.
Masterpoints are awarded on evening bridge sessions, and on day sessions with over 5 tables.
We also try to include interesting bridge seminars as part of your programme, hosted by your EBU-qualified director.
During your holiday, nothing is obligatory, and you can play in as many or as few bridge sessions as you wish. We don’t forget you are on holiday and our bridge programme also allows time to relax, giving you the opportunity to explore the surrounding area.
Make your way to the hotel to meet our bridge team and get acquainted with your fellow players.
Attend the singles meeting if you need to find a partner. Enjoy a welcome drink and dinner followed by evening bridge.
Enjoy a varied programme of bridge throughout your stay, with plenty of free time to explore the local area and relax.
On day 3, join our bridge director and learn some new tricks in our morning seminar.
After a leisurely breakfast depart the hotel for your journey home.
You will stay for four nights at the Royal & Fortescue Hotel.
Once an ancient coaching inn, this contemporary boutique hotel nestled in the heart of Barnstaple retains its historic charm. Boasting a fantastic location, you’re surrounded by shops and the hotel is only a stone’s throw away from the pannier market. Enjoy a menu of delicious classics in the stunning bistro, relax after dinner in the stylish lounge and bar, or treat yourself to apéritif in Bar 62. Rooms feature an elegant, neutral décor and have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The nearest train station is 1 mile from the hotel for those arriving by train, and the hotel has 27 complimentary car parking spaces which are subject to availability on a first-come-first-served basis.
