Makeney Hall has all the special ingredients needed for a festive bridge holiday. We dine in its beautiful conservatory, where we will enjoy a traditional Christmas lunch on Christmas Day, and after our bridge sessions in the spacious Milford Suite, we can relax with our newfound bridge friends in its cosy bar. The elegantly decorated Makeney Hall Hotel is set in 6 acres of landscaped gardens. It was originally built as a Victorian country mansion, and it maintains many charming original period features. It is situated in the Derbyshire countryside close to the village of Belper.

Your Bridge Programme
Our bridge programmes will vary according to the length of your break, and, in addition to playing bridge, we try to include interesting bridge seminars, hosted by your EBU-qualified director.
Your duplicate bridge will be available every evening between 7:45pm and 11:15pm. We endeavour to vary these evening sessions, balancing between teams and pairs and featuring at least one Swiss event during a two-week break.
Bridge will also be offered some afternoons between 2:30pm and 4:45pm. These sessions are normally given over to open pairs/teams. On UK holidays, bridge sessions may take place in the mornings instead of the afternoons, complimenting any included excursion programme.
Masterpoints are awarded on evening bridge sessions, and on day sessions with over 5 tables.
During your bridge holiday, nothing is obligatory, and you can play in as many or as few bridge sessions as you wish. We don’t forget you are on holiday and our bridge programmes also allow time to relax, giving the opportunity for you to explore the surrounding area.
Make your own way to the Makeney Hall Hotel and meet our bridge team. Join us for a welcome drink, dinner, and evening bridge.
There will be afternoon and evening bridge sessions available today with our EBU-qualified director and bridge team.
Join us for a traditional festive lunch, listen to the King's Speech, and challenge yourself with our Christmas quiz. Evening 2 course Buffet followed by bridge.
Morning seminar with our EBU-qualified director. Join us for a glass of prosecco and canapes at lunch time. Afternoon and evening bridge.
After breakfast, you are free to check out at leisure.
You will stay for four nights on at Makeney Hall.
Please note: room upgrades are available at an additional cost. Junior suites are an additional £65 per room for the duration of your stay, and suites are an additional £100 per room for the duration of your stay.
